It Made My Day…

… what Roger Cox, a well acclaimed journalist writing for The Scotsman said in his article from the 3rd of April this month….

And while we’re on the subject of surf-related websites, two recent discoveries have been brightening up my desk-bound days of late. The first is www.surfingnorth.wordpress.com – an archive of Scottish surf images taken by photographer Martina Cross featuring a nice mixture of spray-flingin’ action shots and atmospheric line-up pictures.

Thank you Roger!

O`Neill CWC Final – Pics

I have finally finished to look through the pics I took of yesterdays O`Neill CWC finals and have also finised editing the best ones of them.

Here is a little slideshow of the two semi finals and the final itself. It was such a photographic treat with super cold conditions but very good light!

Over the next few days I will put some of my personal highlights online, so be sure to check back!

More exiting photos of todays Semis and Final will be online soon, so check back!

2010 O`Neill Cold Water Classic Day 7

Here we go, here are all the pics of Round 5. I manged to brave to cold long enough to shoot through all the heats.

Did I say it was cold on Saturday, well forget it! Compared to yesterday it felt like a holiday in Spain. Yesterday the conditions were really bad with some hefty snow and sleet showers disturbing lots of photographers and cameramen. I stayed put during the worst conditions and it payed off as surfing in hefty snow makes actually great pics :-)

Here are my personal highlights from Round 5, heats 1-8

2010 O`Neill Cold Water Classic Scotland Day 5

Here are my pics from yesterdays competition day. I got up early to catch the first heats and I am so glad I did as after the first 5 or 6 heats the weather deteriorated rapidly and rain was setting in for the day.

I shot heats 14 – 18 as I was desperate to see how Chris Noble, the local surf legend would do. Unfortunately for Chris he went out after his heat.

Check back later on to see the pics that I took today! (It was more like a snow boarding event though…)

2010 O`Neill Cold Water Classic Scotland Day 4

Here is a little slideshow of yesterdays highlights from Round 2 Heats 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 13.

The surfing was done in rather challenging weather conditions with very strong winds blowing cross shore. The light could have been better in the morning, but I was very happy that it didnt started raining while I was shooting. After a few hours I was so cold that I had to go home and de-thaw… Not even 3 pairs of socks kept me warm in the wellies…

Check back to see some more grat pics from day 5!

Just A Quicky

Here is just a quicky from todays O`Neill Cold Water Classic Scotland 2010 from down at Thurso East.

I have been down for 5 heats just beofre, but the cold got the better of me and I went home to have a nice warm cuppa. I have quickly looked through the 600 pics I shot so far this morning and here is an impression from before.

Please check back later on, the pics will be edited and (hopefully) online by tonight.

Stay tuned!

2010 O`Neill Cold Water Classic Scotland Day 2

Sorry for the late upload of the pics of the second day at the O`Neill Cold Water Classic at Brims Ness.

Yesterday was a rather dull day and the waves were not as good as on the first day. Ther was some fantastic surf action going on (although I missed some being too busy chatting…)

I am very pleased for Chris Noble who managed to get through his round. Well done you! Although Scratch didnt manage to be amongst the first two in his round he has put on some thrilling surf display too!

Here are some impressions of the four heats I shot on the second day. Check back later on and see if the event (which is currently on hold) is back later on…

2010 O`Neill Cold Water Classic Scotland Day 1 First Pics

The 2010 CWC started off in Brims Ness this morning and I was there to take shots from heat 5 to heat 8. Although the surf forecast looked a little bleak to say the least, Brims fired out some nice swell in blazing sunshine and temperatures that you would usually find much further south.

Unfortunately after heat 8 the contest was called off.

Here are a first few impressions of the first couple of hours of day 1 of the O`Neill Cold Water Classic Scotland 2010 contest…

O`Neill Cold Water Classic 2010 Scotland

Tomorrow the O`Neill Cold Water Classic surfing event is returning to the the shores of Thurso East and Brimms Ness.

144 surfers will be competing for the very desirable claymore sword trophy (and maybe a little for the prize money too)

It will be the third year that I am taking photos at this high class sports event.

Her are a few impressions of last year…
